Complex Direct Restorations and Fiber Integration
OVERVIEW
The Level III Program is an interdisciplinary training module designed for clinicians managing large and complex composite restorations. It focuses on the integration of fiber-reinforced composite resin in onlays, overlays, post-and-core cases, and adhesive interim full mouth reconstruction (iFMR) for tooth wear management. Participants apply the MiCD Resto Concept and 4R Protocol to plan and execute restorations using conventional and OptiBlend systems, with a focus on biomechanical layering techniques. The program integrates occlusion, biomechanics, and advanced adhesive strategies to achieve minimally invasive yet predictable outcomes. It emphasizes interdisciplinary application, demonstrating how composite restorations support orthodontic, endodontic, and prosthodontic treatments, enabling clinicians to restore function, esthetics, and long-term durability in complex restorative cases.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
Understand and implement the MiCD Resto Concept and 4R Clinical Protocol (Recognize – Reinforce – Restore – Refine) for the management of structurally compromised teeth and complex restorative situations.
Perform minimally invasive restorative strategies for extensively damaged teeth, including adhesive onlays, overlays, and large direct composite restorations while preserving maximal remaining tooth structure.
Apply fiber-reinforced restorative techniques for post and core reconstruction, reinforcement of weakened tooth structures, splinting of compromised teeth, and adhesive pontic replacement.
Implement adhesive rehabilitation protocols for tooth wear management, including non-preparation interim Full Mouth Reconstruction (iFMR) to re-establish vertical dimension, functional occlusion, and structural stabilization.
Manage functional occlusion and biomechanical considerations in large and complex restorations to enhance load distribution, structural durability, and long-term clinical performance.
Develop advanced clinical decision-making skills for complex restorative cases, integrating adhesive techniques, fiber reinforcement, and interdisciplinary treatment planning for predictable functional and esthetic outcomes.
